Fall '23 Mens Fashion Week: Gabriela Hearst

Clean, classic responsible design embodies the Gabriela Hearst brand. And she continues this for fall. Innovations are delivered through double-face recycled cashmere outerwear and eco cashmere bouclé bombers. The Aran chunky sweaters provided coziness, while most of the collection focused on Ms. Hearst's strength which is tailoring. Sharp outerwear is an investment that brings up another element of the presentation that addresses the environment - timelessness. Hearst will also be repurposing fabrications from the men's offering with the Fall '23 women's collection.

Ms. Hearst has also indicated the soon-to-be-released carbon footprint report for Chloé, the brand that she heads creatively. And if she reaches those targets, we can only imagine the future of the men's collection.

About Gabriel Hearst

In 2017, Gabriela visited rural Turkana County, Kenya, with Save the Children upon learning east Africa was facing its worst drought in 70 years, putting 20 million people at risk of famine. After witnessing the unfairness of climate change first-hand with mass screening for malnutrition, water scarcity, and complete loss of animal stock, a currency and a source for vital survival, Gabriela Hearst pledges $600K for funds needed to cover the needs of 1,000 families in the area she visited. So for the first time, Ms. Hearst witnessed the effects of climate change over a week.

Following her sustainability mission, stores were built without synthetics or chemicals, using natural, non-treated reclaimed oak and built-in light occupancy sensors throughout the space to reduce electrical consumption. 90% of the material waste generated during the construction process was recycled.

By April 2019, Gabriela Hearst achieved the goal of being plastic-free for both the front and back of the house with the use of compostable TIPA packaging and introducing recycled cardboard hangers.

May 21, 2019, designer Gabriela Hearst’s eponymous label has unveiled a new men’s offering with a premiere collection of pants, jackets, t-shirts, crewnecks and sweaters.

The British Fashion Council awarded Gabriela as an Environment Honoree for her contribution to creating positive change within the industry at the 2020 Fashion Awards. Gabriela was selected as one of the five Honorees in the Environment category among the fifteen Leaders of Change at the British Fashion Council’s 2021 and 2022 Fashion Awards.
