PHIPPS Flower Child Bowling Shirt

PHIPPS Flower Child Bowling Shirt

$430.00

This lofty bowling shirt is made of Ecovero™, the most environmentally-friendly viscose fiber in the world. Light and pleasant to the touch, it gives its graphic print a silky sheen. Its flower print is scanned from scraps of vintage shirts and engineered into a kaleidoscopic ensemble. It is finished with a notched bowling collar and short sleeves. “Hippie” is a curious word, deriving from the jazz term “hip” meaning aware, sharp, in-tune with all that’s going on. In the jazz world those who were hip were called hipsters and those who pretended to be hip were called “hippies.” In what one might consider a significant departure from the jazz-hip beatnik generation of the late ’40s and ’50s, the new bohemians took the pejorative word and made it their badge of honour.

The Brand

Established in the heart of Paris, PHIPPS draws from the city’s history of savoir-faire, yet remains guided by the power of the natural world, an overt fascination with centuries of outdoor culture and athleticism, autonomism, survivalism, and counterculture. Since its foundation in 2018, PHIPPS has become a leader of sustainable fashion by integrating its values, as well as the latest movements in global environmentalism, into its products, brand DNA, and daily management. We aim to question and reinvent logistics, production, and internal management from an ecological standpoint.

Sustainability Support

Conscious of carbon footprint, PHIPPS keeps production local as much as possible, and attempt to remedy our impact with donations to environmental non-profits such as the USDA Forest Service and Oceanic Global. PHIPPS audits manufacturers internally to make sure they meet our ethical standards, and offer recognized industry certifications (BSCI, SMETA, or WCA audits), guaranteeing fair labour conditions. Most of PHIPPS garments are made by manufacturers in Portugal and Italy, and are therefore required by European law to recycle their waste appropriately, re-use treatable water, use alternative energy as much as possible, and exclude hazardous chemicals (REACH).
